Former Gurkha soldier becomes the first person to reach Everest basecamp with prosthetic legs
Hari Budha Magar, a former Gurkha soldier and Global Goodwill Ambassador of the Positive Thought Movement, recently became the first person to reach the Everest base camp with prostheses.
Magar, lost both his legs during war in 2010 during an ambush while on duty in Helmand, Afghanistan. But, that did not stop him from conquering the heights of one of the most difficult climbs in the world.
He expressed his excitement about reaching the base camp on social media where he wrote, “We made it !!! The First Double Above Knee Amputee to Trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC) with Genium X3s (Prosthetic Legs). Thank you everyone for your amazing help and support. I can’t appreciate it enough. Together, we made history. Nothing is Impossible – Conquering Dreams.”
Magar is known for giving inspirational lectures in the UK as well as for taking part in various adventure sports.
