South Asian developers get recognition for their innovative apps

From 18 July to 17 August, tech giant Apple’s app store celebrated South Asian Heritage Month by highlighting a range of brilliant apps ideated and designed by British South Asian creators. From menopause-support app to children’s educational platforms, check out some of these unique and pioneering apps and games, all from developers of South Asian heritage.
Muzz
This dating app caters specifically for the Muslim community and has an incredible success rate. Matchmaking through Muzz has resulted in 200,000 marriages… and counting. Shahzad Younas is the founder and CEO of Muzz.
MindLabs
Designed to bring you better sleep and a calmer mind, MindLabs offers hundreds of video-based mindfulness classes, led by psychologists and neuroscientists. Adnan Ebrahim is the co-founder and CEO of MindLabs.
The Doctor’s Kitchen
Founded by NHS GP and BBC presenter Dr Rupy Aujla, The Doctor’s Kitchen is a nutritional health and cooking app with hundreds of recipes to improve your eating habits and encourage you towards your wellness goals.
Candy Solf
This arcade-style game combines a little bit of minigolf with a little bit of soccer and wraps everything up into a sweet theme to create Candy Solf. Can you complete the courses without triggering a bomb or rolling into a bog? Usman Salim is the founder of Liontech, the games studio behind Candy Solf.
Dosewolf
Keep track of all the medication and supplements you take with Dosewolf. This app makes it easy to track what you need to take and when, and will let you know when you need to order a repeat prescription. Malik Ahmed is the founder of Dosewolf.
Horizon
If you’re ever confused about which bin to put what rubbish into and what exactly can and can’t be recycled, Horizon is the app for you. Scan product barcodes for item-specific recycling instructions, track your recycling and take on challenges to prevent waste going to landfill. Vickesh Solanki is the co-founder and CEO of Horizon.
Fatmap
This is the ideal navigation app for everyone who loves the outdoors. Fatmap offers 3D orientation of mountain terrain, making it perfect for skiers, runners, hikers and more. Plan your trails, check out current mountain conditions, download offline maps and connect with a like-minded community. Misha Gopaul is the founder of Fatmap.
