Man accused of killing Burnley woman charged with murder
A man has been charged in connection with a murder of a woman, Inayat Begum, at a residence in Prairie Crescent, Burnley. The incident took place on 24 April, and the police were notified by the paramedics at the scene.
The 85-year-old woman sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem also revealed that the cause of her death also involved chest and abdominal injuries allegedly inflicted by the 43-year-old Mumtaz Ahmed, who is a resident at the same address in Burnley.
One of Begum’s family members said that she was ‘much loved’ and ‘cared for member of the community who was always kind to others. Ahmed appeared in Blackburn Magistrates’ Court yesterday (27 April).
