Bradford sportswoman Harleen Kaur selected as Batonnearer for Queen’s Baton Relay 2022

Harleen Kaur, a Bradford-based martial artist, and kickboxing champion has been selected as a Batonbearer for this year’s Queen’s Baton Relay from the Yorkshire and Humber region, the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 confirmed. The Baton will be carried through local communities to build anticipation and excitement among the people before the event begins.

The young woman has made a mark in sports and has worked to encourage South Asian women and women belonging to minority ethnic backgrounds to take part in sports and athletics.
As the first British Asian woman who represented England in world championships, Kaur has many achievements under her belt, including a gold in British kickboxing and a silver in World Martial Kombat Championships.
Apart from that, she has also made significant efforts by providing support to a sports charity in Punjab, India. She is an ambassador for Sporting Equals and the Asian Sports Foundation in England where she helps promote diversity in sports.
