Bollywood actress tops Goldsmiths new honorary fellows

Bollywood film actress Kalki Koechlin was among a list of three people announced to become Goldsmiths newest Honorary Fellows.
Ms. Koechlin will join the celebrated author Evie Wyld and the British Ghanaian writer and photographer Caleb Azumah Nelson to receive their awards at a degree convocation in London next week.
Internationally renowned as an actor, writer and social justice advocate, Ms Koechlin graduated from Goldsmiths before embarking on a career in theatre and film. Her debut film role in Dev.D earned her a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.
She has since starred in critically acclaimed works including Margarita with a Straw and Gully Boy. On the stage her writing and performances have gained recognition and include the MetroPlus Playwright Award for The Hindu.
In 2018 Ms Koechlin received the Chevalier dans L’Ordre des Art et des Lettres for her contribution to arts culture.
Evie Wyld is the author of five critically acclaimed novels. A recipient of the Miles Franklin Award, the Stella Prize and the Encore Award, in 2013 Ms Wyld was named among Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. Beyond her writing, Ms Wyld is an integral part of the local literary community that makes up Review, an independent bookshop in Peckham.
Caleb Azumah Nelson debut novel, Open Water, helped establish him as a compelling voice in contemporary literature. Receiving widespread acclaim, the novel won the Costa First Novel Award and the British Book Awards’ Debut Fiction Book of the Year. Mr Nelson’s work highlights the richness of South East London’s communities celebrating under-represented voices.
