The 2025 Asia Cup T20’s group stage came to a close with four teams securing their spot in the winner’s stage. India and Pakistan both advanced from Group A, while Sri Lanka and Bangladesh both made it out of Group B.

The United Arab Emirates, Oman, Afghanistan and Hong Kong all crashed out of the competition during the group stage.

India topped Group A with six points while Sri Lanka topped Group B with six points. Both runners-up in each group finished with four points, those teams being Pakistan and Bangladesh.

But all eyes have swiftly turned to the winner’s stage, which sees the best four from the tournament compete to take the top spot. Each nation plays each other once, and the two teams at the top of the group after three matches will play each other in the final. The winner of the final is then crowned as the 2025 Asia Cup T20 champions.

Of the four sides in the latter stage of the competition, two have won the tournament before. Last time out in 2022, Sri Lanka was victorious and in 2016, India were the team to win the Asia Cup T20 final.

Two matches have been played in the winners group, with each team featuring. Group B winners Sri Lanka took on the group runners-up Bangladesh, to see who would claim the first four points of the next stage of the competition. Bangladesh were the winners in the clash, winning by four wickets.

A day after the opening winners stage match, the second was played. Group toppers India faced Pakistan, with the runners-up hoping to get revenge for their earlier loss in the competition against their opposition. The win was secured by India, who were victorious by six wickets.

Each nation still has a shot of making it to the final, but India and Bangladesh find themselves in the best position with two games to spare.
