Popular Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is being called out for being toxic and a ‘red flag’ after Alia Bhatt’s recent video went viral online.

In a video shot for Vogue India, the actress showed how she applies her lipstick, but does so in a minimalistic way because her husband ‘doesn’t like it’.

She demonstrated that instead of applying the lipstick on her lips, she glides her lips on the product instead, admitting that the method is unusual but that’s what works best for her.

She then proceeds to completely wipe the lipstick off as she tells viewers that she prefers a faded look.

Bhatt says: “Because one thing my husband… when he wasn’t my husband but when he was my boyfriend as well… he would be like ‘wipe that off, wipe that off’ because he loves the natural colour of my lips.”

The actress who recently featured in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ opposite Ranveer Singh, likely intended people to perceive this as a sweet detail about their relationship. However, she did not anticipated the criticism that would come her way.

Many were quick to point out that Kapoor is a ‘red flag’ and telling his wife to remove her lipstick was ‘toxic behaviour’.

One person wrote: “That’s really weird of Ranbir to make her wipe the lipstick. No husband/boyfriend should do that. They can suggest or tell their preference that “i like your natural lips more” what if the wife likes the lipstick??”

Another person added: “Omg not Ranbir treating her like a child… like I get having preferences but if ur girlfriend/wife has lipstick on don’t make her take it off like that.”

“She is always talking about her husband in every interview!! She feels he is a trophy she has won lol!! It’s irritating even during makeup she wants to talk about her husband it’s pathetic!” a user added.

Despite the mounting hatred, many defended the actress and praised her natural makeup look. One user wrote: “Thank you vogue for bringing her, she’s naturally so beautiful and so open with the products she’s using unlike other Indian celebs who always show their so called DIY skincare, luv u alia. More success and power to you girl.”

Another commented: “Nobody’s gonna mentioned how flawlessly she applied her makeup and it looked so natural.”

A third wrote: “Such a natural, down to earth and real beauty!!”

This is not the first time the high profile couple have been trolled online. Earlier, in an interview with Vice, Bhatt mentioned that Kapoor doesn’t like it when she raises her voice during arguments.

She said: “I have to try very hard to control my anger because my husband does not like (it) when my voice goes above this decibel.

“Because he thinks it’s not fair and it’s important to be kind even when you are unhappy.”
