Volunteers raise over £125K while fasting to bring hope to refugees in Jordan

In a world often divided by borders, beliefs, and conflict, one organisation is proving that unity and compassion can overcome any divide.
The Magic Wishing Well, in collaboration with SKT Foundation, has launched a powerful campaign to provide essential aid to Palestinian and Syrian refugees living in dire conditions in Jordan.
Since the start of Ramadan, a dedicated team of volunteers has been working tirelessly, while fasting, to raise funds in every way possible. From washing cars and hosting grand Iftar events to personally visiting supermarkets and businesses, they have spared no effort in their mission to bring hope to those who need it most.
Shakeel Faraz, one of the founders of The Magic Wishing Well, is overwhelmed by the generosity the initiative has received.
He said: “Over 100 businesses have come forward, donating between £250 and £10,000. This incredible support reflects the trust and kindness shown towards our team. We operate on a 100% donation policy, no wages are paid, and all volunteers, including myself, cover their own expenses.
I personally fund the running of The Heckmondwike Food Bank because I believe every penny should go to those in need.”
With over 80,000 refugees struggling to survive in Jordan’s camps, the need for food, water, and hygiene essentials is greater than ever. The Magic Wishing Well has stepped up, bringing together businesses, individuals, and volunteers from all backgrounds to make a difference.
Whether through financial donations, time, or simply spreading awareness, the collective effort has already raised an incredible £125,000, and counting.
Trustee Rashad Khan emphasised the challenges they face: “These deployments are always heartbreaking. We do everything we can, but sometimes we have to turn people away because we simply don’t have enough resources.
Months of hard work go into planning and fundraising, and our volunteers give thousands of hours to make this happen.”
Beyond delivering essential supplies, the team is ensuring that those who have lost everything still feel the warmth of Ramadan. They will be hosting grand Iftar meals for orphaned children, offering them a moment of joy and togetherness in an otherwise difficult life.
In keeping with their 100% donation policy, The Magic Wishing Well team will personally fund their travel and expenses for their trip to Jordan on Friday 21 March. Every penny raised will go directly to those in need, ensuring that no money is lost to red tape or bureaucracy.
With the support of local communities, businesses, and generous individuals, The Magic Wishing Well and SKT Foundation are proving that compassion has no borders. Every donation, every volunteer effort, and every act of kindness is a step towards making Eid a little brighter for those who have endured unimaginable hardship.
As they prepare for their journey, the team extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed. Whether through a donation, a shared post, or a simple prayer, every effort counts.
Together, we can continue making a difference, one food pack, one Iftar, and one act of kindness at a time.
