Three South Asian children racially abused outside Ewood Park Stadium

Blackburn Rovers employee Yasir Sufi, who has organised various events for the club has said that his three children were recently victims of racial abuse outside Ewood Park Stadium, the football club’s official ground.

The incident took place on Sunday where a woman harassed the children when they were heading back to the car after attending the Star Wars Fan Fun Day event and called them “flipping Pakis taking over our country… go back to where you came from”.

Sufi has refused to share a picture of the harasser and said that he will not do it as she is someone’s mother and grandmother. He added, “As much as we can try to be the change we want to see in the world, people like this will always remind us, that the message some of the mainstream media shows them is a lot more powerful in influencing how they see the world. Kept her face covered because she is someone’s mum/gran/sister, and this is not about her. There’s plenty more like her. The problem is the news she reads and what she’s told. Until that changes people like her will always exist.”
