Riz Ahmed makes a statement on the Met Gala red carpet

Academy Award-winning British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed was snapped wearing an unexpected outfit to the highly decorated art show, Met Gala this year. The theme for the gala was Gilded Glamour.

The Sound of Metal actor wore a navy blue co-ord set with knee-length boots, reminiscent of the clothes worn by immigrants during the Gilded Age. He accessorised the outfit with Islamic jewellery made in India as well as those from luxury brand Cartier, making a bold statement on the red carpet.

When asked about his outfit, Ahmed said, “In thinking about the Met Gala theme of ‘Gilded Glamour,’ I wanted to focus on the people without whom nothing Gilded would exist: the labourers, the workers, the unseen. This look is for everyone who thinks they don’t have a voice. They do.”
