Ramadan Runner smashes fundraising milestone
Renowned award-winning community champion Nazim Ali aka Ramadan Runner, has achieved a remarkable, awe-inspiring £1 million milestone in charitable fundraising, marking a significant legacy of generosity and service.
This incredible feat follows his latest life-changing humanitarian deployment to Jordan ahead of Ramadan 2025, where he continued his mission to support the most vulnerable.
Now, his latest challenge is the return of his famous “Ramadan Run’, where Nazim will run his 12th annual Ramadan 10K in Bradford – all while fasting for nearly 16-hours.
This incredible feat will take place on Sunday, 23rd March in his home city – Bradford – UK’s City of Culture 2025, with the iconic Lister Park serving as the finish line.
For those unfamiliar with the gruelling challenge, imagine running 10 kilometers under the intense discipline of fasting – without food or water. To many, it sounds impossible, but to Nazim, it’s all part of his mission to help the most vulnerable communities across the world.
Known for his remarkable dedication, Nazim’s run is not just a personal challenge, but a call to action. His mission this Ramadan? To raise £55,000 for Green Crescent Aid UK’s Burundi New Homes Project, providing 25 safe, secure homes for vulnerable families in Burundi.
Each new two-room home, complete with a kitchen and bathroom, costs just £2,200. Through this project, Nazim aims to build 25 homes for families living in makeshift shelters, vulnerable to extreme weather conditions and disease.
In recognition of his tireless service, Nazim was named in the King’s New Year Honours 2025 to receive a British Empire Medal (BEM). Yet, his focus remains on the people he serves, driven by a deep commitment to improving lives.
Nazim’s work extends far beyond the annual run. For over 27 years, he’s spearheaded humanitarian initiatives, raising nearly £1 million for causes worldwide. From house transformations in Malawi to aid for refugees in Syria, Iraq, and Bangladesh, his impact is global.
He’s also a consistent presence in his local Bradford community, running the Khidma Community Kitchen, and organising the ‘Creating Smiles’ gift-giving initiative for poorly children in hospitals.
Despite a busy career as a Careers Adviser at three inner-city schools, and self-funded charity work, Nazim remains steadfast in his mission. “It’s because of you that I’m able to do this,” he says, expressing gratitude to his supporters.
