Preston Hindu Society makes a generous donation to a cancer charity
A Hindu Society based in Preston has been hailed for donating £5435 to a cancer charity.
The Gujarat Hindu Society Preston organised a successful fundraising drive recently and donated the funds to Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
The Society, which previously donated more than £4000 in 2018 to the same charity invited its chairman Peter Mileham OBE and chief officer Dan Hill to receive the donation at a meeting of the Temple’s luncheon club, which is held twice every week.
The society’s president, Mr Ishwer Tailor MBE, praised all the members for their kindness and support and said, “Cancer has no barriers and can affect anyone in the community.”
Rosemere Cancer Foundation works to bring world class cancer treatments and services to cancer patients from throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria being treated at Rosemere Cancer Centre, Lancashire, and South Cumbria’s specialist regional cancer treatment and radiotherapy centre at the Royal Preston Hospital. It also helps treat patients at another eight local hospital cancer units across the two counties. The charity funds items beyond the means of the NHS such as cutting edge equipment, clinical research, staff training and innovative services to make cancer patients’ treatment journey more effective, comfortable and stress-free.
