PM Rishi Sunak’s daughter, Anoushka Sunak, performs Kuchipudi at a dance festival in London

Anoushka Sunak, the daughter of British prime minister Rishi Sunak and his entrepreneur wife Akshata Murthy, recently performed at ‘Rang’, an international Kuchipudi dance festival in London on Friday, 25 November.

The event was organized by acclaimed Kuchipudi dancer Arunima Kumar and saw performances by over a hundred artists between the ages of four and 85, marking India’s 75 years of independence.

Nine-year-old Anoushka expressed her love for India, saying that she loves visiting the country every year and has a strong connection with it.

She said, “It is a place where family, home, and culture blend together.”

In an exclusive interview with India Today, the young girl also explained why she loved Kuchipudi and had a passion for dance in general.

“I love Kuchipudi and dancing, because when you are dancing all your worries and stresses go away and you are in the moment dancing with all your friends beside you. I love to be on stage,” she said.

Among the audience were Anoushka’s influential grandparents, the co-founder of Indian IT company Infosys, Narayana Murthy, and his philanthropist wife, Sudha Murthy.

Before her performance, the prime minister’s daughter admitted that she was nervous as “teachers from our school are going to be there”.

Rishi Sunak became the prime minister of the United Kingdom on 25 October after Liz Truss had to step down in the wake of worsening economic crisis.

Sunak’s government continues to face several challenges, however, reports have stated that he remains a very popular figure.
