Mother-of-four dies after an accident while holidaying in South Africa

A British tourist to South Africa has died after allegedly being victim to a freak accident while enjoying holiday with her family.

47-year-old Fatima Issa, from Leicester, was visiting her family and friends in a suburb of Johannesburg when the incident took place. She was accidentally shot at point-blank range with a nine-millimetre round by a male relative in Meyersal View Estate.

The City of Leicester College teacher’s death was confirmed by her brother, Ebrahim Lambat, who lives in South Africa.

Lambat wrote on Facebook, “Request duas for my sister Fatima Issa, who has returned to the mercy of Allah.”

Anti-crime campaigner Yusuf Abramjee revealed that a relative was cleaning a gun, but appears to have forgotten that it was loaded. He accidentally pulled the trigger and Issa was fatally shot.

Paramedics rushed to the scene after the incident occurred but could not save Issa, a mother of four children.

A source told The Sun, “This has come as a total shock for the family. Fatima was a much-loved mother of four enjoying a holiday with family in South Africa but she has somehow been shot dead.

Her loved ones will be demanding to know how on earth this happened and how on earth she came so close to someone with a loaded gun.”

The South African police are investigating the events that led to Issa’s untimely demise.

In a post online, the City of Leicester College wrote, “Everyone at The City of Leicester College is deeply shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic passing of our colleague and friend Fatima Issa. We all wish her family courage and peace during this time.” Issa’s family are known to be flying to South Africa after learning of her death.
