Manchester-based millionaire Ajmail Dusanj got away with getting his license banned by suggesting that he never received the police paperwork at his luxury manor house in South Staffordshire.
Dusanj, one of the richest Asian men in the country, was caught driving his luxury car at a speed of 40mph in a 30mph zone. Subsequently, he was sent a letter but failed to respond to the notice of intended prosecution. He already has six points on his license.
The business tycoon asserted that he was not aware of the letter being sent and only realised that he was convicted in absentia by the Justices after the second letter came through. He asked that the case against him be reopened and made a 250-mile round trip from his home to the Sefton Magistrates’ Court to avoid being disqualified and retain his license.
The Justices then dropped the charges and accepted his guilty plea, charging him for speeding and adding three more points to his license. Additionally, he was asked to pay a fine of £166 and another one amounting to £144 towards costs and a victim surcharge.
