Mayor of Wolverhampton to organise a Bollywood-themed charity fundraiser event
A Bollywood Charity Ball has been organised by Cllr Vivian Achwal, the Mayor of Winchester, to raise funds for three charity organisations on the 23rd of April.
The charities selected are: Winchester Youth Counselling, Friends of the Family and The Eight Foundation. The event has been very popular in the city since its inception in 2017 and has helped in fundraising a significant amount of money for charities.
This year, the Ball cost £65 per person and will include a welcome drink, a themed three-course meal along with complimentary wine, and a dance featuring Indian classical and Bollywood dancers to entertain the guests.
Cllr Vivian Achwal said, “These charities were picked because, firstly, they’re local and all the money raised is going to give back to this community. The three I’ve picked have done so much for those in Winchester and this charity event will only further their good work.” She also added, “My husband is Asian and I wanted to explore the possibility of a multicultural charity event. I think it’s a unique idea as I haven’t seen it done before and I’ve got Bollywood music planned, a small Indian dance group and possibly a DJ.”
