Man who racially abused an Asian couple in Bolton sacked by his company

A man who subjected a couple of Asian background to vile racist comments in Bolton has been sacked by his company.

A video of the incident went viral over the weekend where the man is seen wearing a uniform that belongs to trucking firm Accolate Logistics in Accrington. The video was shared over 200,000 times on social media, where he used hate speech against a man and a woman of Asian origin and attracted widespread criticism.

The man told the victims of abuse that they are “not British”, made highly offensive and derogatory remarks at both, and admitted to being racist when called out. He proceeded to tell the couple that he hates them.

The incident is said to have taken place on Blackburn Road, Bolton near the Asda Supermarket on Friday.

The exact timing of the incident has not been confirmed yet, but according to the video, the incident seems to have taken place following a road accident.

The company that the abuser was an employee at later confirmed that he had been “immediately dismissed”.

Accolate Logistics released a statement that said: “We would like to profoundly apologise to anyone that has witnessed or seen this totally unacceptable racist outburst.

“Accolade Logistics have been providing a very reputable delivery service for over 20 years.

“We employ a multicultural work force and do not and will not tolerate any kind of racist abuse.

“This person has been immediately dismissed from our company and we are already assisting the police with their enquiries.

“Once again our sincerest of apologies.”

The video, which was shared several times over the internet within a few hours, led to an immediate backlash from community members across Bolton, East Lancashire and beyond.

Bolton Council opposition spokesperson for stronger communities Councillor Rabiya Jiva confirmed that Greater Manchester Police were informed of the incident and were undertaking a thorough investigation.
