Leeds woman accused of murdering her husband in Pakistan
65-year-old Yasmeen Kausar has allegedly got her husband killed in Pakistan with the help of two men who were hired to do the job for her. Kausar, who is from Bradford, moved to Leeds with her husband, Mohammad Farooq, 65, after they got married.
Police say that Farooq was strangled in a town near Rawalpindi, Punjab, after which his body was driven to a dumping area for garbage, where the vehicle was lit on fire. On April 1, his burnt body was found in Morgah, near Islamabad.
A spokesperson from the Foreign Office said that they are in touch with Pakistani authorities about the murder case involving the two British-Pakistanis. They said, “We are in contact with the local authorities in Pakistan following the death of a British man and are providing consular support to his family.”
Kausar and Farooq had left the UK and travelled to Pakistan after the death of his younger brother. Kausar, who is believed to be having an affair, has denied any role in her husband’s death. She is currently being held in prison and is awaiting a trial.
