JalTarang’s cultural event Sangam sees performances by noteworthy artists and raises autism awareness

JalTarang, an organisation that curates events across India, the US and the UK, organised Sangam, a spectacular evening exhibiting an incredibly diversified Indian cultural show, with several phenomenal performances and supported autism awareness on 5 November.

Living legend Kathak Exponent, Padmashree awardee and MBE Pandit Pratap Pawar, who has mesmerised the audiences over fifty five years, and transcended Kathak dance to the global platform and international fame performed on the show accompanied by his abled team, Natraj Namah Namoha and Sher Tarana.

The Geetanjali School of Arts also performed along with founder Jayeeta Ghosh, a prominent award-winning classical vocalist showcasing the colours of raga, as the children from GAOFAL endeavoured to connect souls with glorious Hindustani classical ragas and glimpses of impeccable traditional Gwalior gharana at The Bhavans.

JalTarang’s Sangam also showcased “BhanuSingher Podaboli”, the lyrical and musical depiction of Tagore. This exquisite piece of art was presented by prominent London-based artist and founder of Robi Chondo, Bithi Purkyastha, with the support of her talented team.

The event was a cultural show that presented confluence of diversity of music and acceptance of diversity with a focus on autism awareness. The guests at the event included Lord Rami Ranger CBE and several other important figures.

Founder and director, Paromita Goswami said, “This is just not a cultural program but to support diversity and inclusivity in music, heritage and neurodiversity that comes through Autism. We are raising campaign to support AALFA, Assisted Living for Autistic Adults, an NGO based in India, founded by the mother of a 30-year-old autistic son who was hounded with concern for the adult life of her son when providing a bare living for autistic adults is a big challenge.”

Goswami’s 8-year-old son is also in the spectrum, which drives her to work on this project and support the cause with the musical venture.

JalTarang has received multiple awards from the House of Commons and has the support of Indian embassies and the Ministry of India for the exemplary work after just 20 months of its inception.
