Hurayra Pet Foods Supports Allerton Cat Rescue with Generous Donation

A Bradford rescue centre has received a welcome boost after a Yorkshire-based pet food company donated a year’s supply of premium cat food to help support its work with vulnerable and abandoned animals.
Hurayra Pet Foods, the UK’s only officially HMC Halal-registered pet food brand, responded to an appeal from Allerton Cat Rescue, which relies entirely on volunteers and community donations to keep its doors open.
The rescue, which has operated for decades without paid staff, continues to face rising costs as more families struggle to care for pets during the ongoing cost-of-living pressures.
The donation includes a substantial supply of Hurayra’s newly launched dry cat food range, which recently became available in selected Morrisons stores across the country as well as through subscription on the brand’s website. The recipe, developed using responsibly sourced ingredients, is high in protein and contains no meat derivatives, wheat, soy or filler, a formulation intended to support cats with sensitivities while providing consistent nutrition.
For Allerton Cat Rescue, which often operates at capacity and stretches every pound donated, support like this plays a crucial role in enabling volunteers to continue their work. With no government funding and a constant influx of stray, abandoned or mistreated animals, feeding costs alone can place significant strain on the shelter.
Lynda Armstrong, a long-standing volunteer at the rescue said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Hurayra Pet Foods for their kindness and support. As a small charity with no paid staff, we depend on the generosity of local people and local businesses.
Donations like this help us feed, care for and rehabilitate the cats who arrive here through no fault of their own. Every bag of food is one less thing for us to worry about.”
Hurayra founder Aihtsham Rashid said the donation reflects the company’s belief that a successful local business should remain rooted in the community that shaped it. He said the brand was built on the values of ethical sourcing and social responsibility, and supporting Allerton Cat Rescue was a natural extension of that ethos.
He said: “Supporting Allerton Cat Rescue is a way for us to put those values into action. Bradford is our home. We know how much dedication goes into caring for animals that have been abandoned or mistreated, and we wanted to help in a practical way. This donation is only the start, our aim is to build a long-term partnership with the charity.”
With rising costs of food, vet bills and energy, Allerton Cat Rescue says donations of this kind allow the charity to prioritise rehabilitation, medical care and safe rehoming for cats in distress, ensuring fewer animals fall through the cracks.
Hurayra Pet Foods says it plans to announce additional initiatives in the coming months aimed at supporting animal-welfare organisations across Yorkshire and beyond.
