Home Instead business owner Suhail Rehman has appointed John Kirk as the first non-executive director to join his board.
A prominent figure in the home care sector, Kirk brings a wealth of experience, namely his most recent role as deputy CEO of one of Scotland’s largest care home provider, Balhousie Care Group.
The newly created role will see Kirk, an expert in operations, growth and acquisition, help Rehman further develop his award-winning home care business.
Rehman runs a hugely successful multi-unit Home Instead franchise business across Scotland with offices in Glasgow North, Glasgow South, North Lanarkshire & Glasgow East, Stirling and Falkirk, Perthshire, South Ayrshire and Kilmarnock, and Aberdeen.
With ambitious plans to further grow the business, Rehman is delighted to have John onboard. “Demand for home care in Scotland remains incredibly high and we remain committed to further expanding and enhancing the first-class level of care that we deliver,” commented Rehman. “John brings an exemplary record of senior leadership experience in both the care home and domiciliary care sector which can only further strengthen our team. His blend of operations, finance and commercial acumen is exactly what we need to achieve our goals while John’s value-led, people focussed approach perfectly reflects the caring ethos which underpins our business.”
Kirk added, “I am proud to be joining Home Instead which has an outstanding reputation for home care across the UK. Suhail’s business model is incredibly exciting and ambitious. I believe I can make a valuable contribution to continuing to grow the business and firmly position Home Instead as the first choice for home care across Scotland.”
Rehman provides non-medical home care services and companionship for older people, so they can continue to live independently in the comfort of their own homes. In the ten years since he established his first Home Instead franchise, he has grown the business to an almost 400 strong workforce with £7M turnover.
With Kirk’s input, Rehman now has his sights set on doubling the size of the operation while also developing the next generation of leadership through the creation of a formidable executive leadership team.
Kirk, who grew up in St Andrews and now lives in South Lanarkshire, worked in financial services before moving into the healthcare sector, joining Allied Healthcare in 2010. He became managing director of Four Seasons Health Care Group in 2014 and in 2018 took up the same role with HC-One. Most recently he was deputy chief executive officer for Balhousie Care Group.
Home Instead provides a variety of care, including personal care, such as help with dressing and bathing, specialist dementia care, companionship care, and light housekeeping.
