Dr Rameen Shakur appointed chair of the Institute of Directors
British Bangladeshi doctor, scientist and entrepreneur Professor Rameen Shakur was recently appointed as Chair of the Cambridgeshire branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD). Founded in 1903, IoD is a well-known organisation that comprises company directors, senior business leaders and entrepreneurs.
Dr Shakur is the Founder and Chairman of Cambridge Heartwear, a company that has pioneered wearable, heart monitoring technology. In an interview with Cambridge Science Park, he said that the city is one of the best in the world for medical research and business innovation, making a big contribution to the healthcare industry which constantly demands them.
Dr Shakur will be introducing Cambridge Calling, his first initiative as the Chair, which involves a forum where IoD members of all sectors come together to interact with prominent business people and share their journey, lessons and provide advice.
