Comedian Trevor Noah who plays the host in the popular ‘Daily Show’, gave a fitting response to racist remarks made towards Rishi Sunak who became the first British Asian prime minister of the United Kingdom on 25 October.
The Indian-origin prime minister’s non-white roots became a point of discussion for some racists, a clip of which was played during the show. A caller, who is a member of the Conservative Party, said in a British Radio Show that a non-white person becoming a PM was not a good thing.
Noah, in response reminded his viewers that Sunak is Indian, a practicing Hindu and just 42-years-old, which means that he will likely “serve well into his forty-two-and-a-halves”.
He then went on to add, “Let’s not forget another important first. He is also the first prime minister who is an absolute snack.”
The host went on to play the clip where the caller asks, “Can you imagine me becoming Prime Minister of Scottish National or me becoming the Prime Minister of Pakistan? People of England would like to see someone who looks like them.” Noah made a hilarious remark and said, “This is a good point. Can you imagine white English people trying to rule countries where no one looks like them!”
Noah indicated towards several people in the UK not being happy with Sunak becoming the prime minister. But, asked the racists to look at it in a positive way, saying, “This could be a good thing for you people. After 400 years, you finally get to legitimately blame a brown person for your country’s problems. You’re living the dream. Wake up.”
