Comedian Paul Chowdhry attacked by thugs while driving in London
Fans were concerned after Paul Chowdhury confirmed that he was attacked by a group of thugs
British Indian stand-up comedian Paul Chowdhry has confirmed that he was attacked by thugs whilst driving in Central London on Friday night. This is one of the many incidents that has come to light where a person of ethnic minority background has been targeted.
The 47-year-old confirmed the incident in a post on Instagram and said that he was “fine” after two of his fans posted on social media claiming to have seen it unfold in front of their eyes.
One fan wrote, “Hey Paul was that you at new Oxford street? Looked like some thugs tried to attack you.”
Another post by a fan mentioned, “I did send the police who were a few cars behind but I think you drove off by then.”
Chowdhry, who is of Indian Punjabi Sikh heritage, replied saying that he was attacked in his car, but he was doing fine and would give an update as soon as possible to his concerned followers.
Fans of the much-loved comedian put up posts and messages expressing their shock at the incident and said they hoped he was alright.
Fellow comedian and Loose Women star Judi Love said, “Omg hope you’re okay hun xxx”.
A fan wrote, “Glad to hear you’re ok, but what?!!”
Another person posted, “So sorry to see this. Really hope you’re OK xx.”
The Met Police, however, said that they are yet to receive a report about the incident. Chowdhry, who is a regular on panel shows and the stand-up circuit in the UK, has previously claimed to be a victim of several racially motivated attacks.
