Bradford tailor marks Eid with a blooming gesture at BRI

A Bradford tailor is bringing colour and comfort to his local hospital this Eid by donating wildflower seeds to brighten up its gardens.
Imran Khan, of IK Collections in Westgate, visited Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) on Monday 31st of March, to hand over two large boxes of seeds to Chief Executive Mel Pickup and Chief Gardener Chris Clarke. The gesture was not only in celebration of Eid but also to mark the safe arrival of his first child, born at BRI earlier this week.
Imran said: “It’s important for people’s mental health that when they come to hospital, they see brightly coloured flowers. Hospitals can feel clinical and overwhelming, but nature has a way of lifting spirits.”
The donation was put to immediate use, with the seeds sown in flowerbeds near the hospital’s rainbow entrance, a space already known for its uplifting presence.
BRI Chief Executive Mel Pickup praised the contribution: “A big thank you to Imran for his generosity and for getting involved in the planting today. Our grounds and gardens are deeply valued by patients, staff, and visitors, and these wildflowers will be a beautiful addition.”
Chief Gardener Chris Clarke added: “You can’t underestimate the power of nature in supporting wellbeing. This donation will make a real difference to everyone who walks through our hospital grounds.”
BRI, along with St Luke’s Hospital and Westwood Park Community Hospital, has developed wellbeing and reflection gardens, offering patients, staff, and visitors tranquil spaces to relax and recharge.
Imran’s thoughtful Eid donation ensures that, as the flowers bloom, they will serve as a lasting reminder of community kindness and the healing power of nature.
