Bradford turned pink this October as residents came together in Lister Park for the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA) 5K Pink Walk, marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event saw families, friends, and supporters from across the community walk side by side to honour those affected by breast cancer and raise awareness of early detection and treatment.
Organised by the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal, the walk aimed to highlight the importance of compassion, solidarity, and access to care for all, regardless of financial means. The funds and awareness raised will go directly to support Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, where thousands of patients receive free, high-quality cancer treatment each year.
Shafiq Rafiq, Volunteer and Event Coordinator for IKCA, said the turnout reflected the community’s generosity and shared purpose.
He added: “It was deeply moving to see individuals and families from all walks of life come together in unity. Each step taken symbolised hope, strength and support for those affected by cancer.
We are grateful to everyone who joined us, your compassion helps ensure that no one faces cancer alone.”
The 5K Pink Walk added a splash of colour and positivity to Lister Park, with participants wearing pink ribbons, balloons and banners to show solidarity. Organisers said the event was not only about fundraising but also about raising awareness of breast cancer prevention and the importance of early screening.
The Imran Khan Cancer Appeal continues to fund treatment and research for patients in need through Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, which provides free cancer care in Pakistan and supports awareness initiatives across the UK.
