Muhammad Sultan (Pictured above), manager of the Glasgow based Charcoals Indian Restaurant, took time out of his busy work schedule to fly to Pakistan to help local families in need.
Sultan, makes the trip annually, and once again flew out to the city of Lahore in Saturday the 15th of February.
Regularly praised for his charity work, Muhammad flew out from Glasgow, and is going to be giving out much-needed food packages, with his friend Asad Iqbal, to help feed as many people as he can while there.
Using his own money, as well as donations from customers, he thanked everyone who has given generously to help the important cause with nearly 2,600 packages being given out, which Muhammad reckons will feed around 10,000 people.
Muhammad said: “Usually I go every year [to Lahore, Pakistan] myself, as I want to make sure that the charity I do goes to the right people.
The packages contain 5kg of rice, 5kg of sugar, 5kg of flour, oil and syrup to make juice and can last for a month for a family of four, so hundreds of families are getting the advantage of that.”
He added: “I would like to thank Allah and all my family and friends for the support and appreciation. We are making two pots of chicken Biryani each day for the full month and this sees nearly 300 to 400 people given cooked food every day.”
Giving away thousands of the care packages, the project mirrors the charity work he does at home in Glasgow, where he often cooks food and gives gifts of much-needed clothing to the homeless.
