Three men arrested on suspicion of robbing boxing champion Amir Khan

After an incident that left former boxing world champion Amir Khan and his wife Faryal Makhdoom shaken in April this year, arrests have finally been made.

35-year-old Khan was robbed at gunpoint after being approached by two men outside the Sahara Grill in Leyton who threatened him and demanded that he hand over his diamond-encrusted Franck Muller Vanguard Chronograph, a watch that costs £72,000.

The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera nearby and according to the Scotland Yard, three men aged 20, 25 and 34 have now been arrested in connection with the robbery and are being questioned by the authorities.

A spokesperson for the Scotland Yard said, “Detectives investigating a gunpoint street robbery in Leyton have made three arrests.”

“The three men – A, 25, B, 34 and C, 20 – were arrested on suspicion of robbery after warrants were executed by detectives this morning.”

“Man A has also been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence; man C has been arrested for this offence and possession of ammunition. All three remain in custody,” they added.

On the day of the robbery, Khan was earlier seen with a fan getting his pictures taken with his luxurious watch on display. The evening before, he was seen attending a charity event at the Grosvenor House Hotel wearing the same watch which is encrusted with 719 diamonds. This raised suspicions that the robbers had seen the pictures and specifically targeted the ace boxer.

After the attack had taken place, Khan was visibly distressed and posted a video on social media saying, “Last night was a bit mad. I’m glad everyone is safe. It feels a bit weird not wearing a watch but it is what it is. I just wanted to tell you guys that I’m all good. Me and the wife are doing some TV work today.”
