Campaign launched to honour young Chelsea FC supporter

The family of Kyle Sekhon, a young Chelsea FC supporter who recently died by suicide in the London Underground, launched a Twitter campaign to give a minute’s applause during the 23^rd minute at the football team’s next match against Wolves on 7 May.

The young man, who has been described as “an all-round good guy” by his uncle, Kalveer Heer, was left with multiple injuries after being hit by a train at Fulham Broadway on April 24. His family was completely unaware of his mental health issues and did not know that he was suicidal. He left home on Sunday and did not inform anyone about where he was going. Later the same evening, the family was left devastated at the news of his body being found by the police.

His family is a big supporter of Manchester United but Sekhon chose his own path and was passionate about Chelsea. They have also fundraised nearly £5000 in his memory through a JustGiving.page post and will be donating the funds to Papyrus, a charity that helps prevent suicide and promotes mental health among those aged below 35.
