Apache Indian to be the headline act at the first-ever ‘Best of India’ event showcasing Indian culture in London

The Platform for Indian Democracy, an organisation that is uniting the British Indian community, is set to host the inaugural “Best of India” cultural ball on September 27th at Porchester Hall, London. 

This unique event will celebrate the rich cultural heritage and artistic contributions of the British Indian community. 

The evening will showcase diverse performances, featuring the iconic Apache Indian, who will bring his signature fusion of Urban Asian and Reggae music. Attendees will also enjoy traditional Indian classical dance, including Akademi’s Kathak performers and the elegant Bharatanatyam of Hiten Mistry (pictured above). 

The event includes a three-course buffet featuring an array of authentic dishes from all parts of the Indian subcontinent, offering a taste of India’s diverse culinary heritage.   

In addition to the performances, the event will premiere ‘Determined: Our Legacy as British Indians,’ a collaborative project with renowned exhibition curator, oral historian, and ethnomusicologist Rolf Killius. 

This 15-part film project highlights the significant impact of British Indians across various sectors and their enduring contributions to the UK’s cultural and social landscape. 

Speaking about the event, Raul Lai, project manager of the Platform for Indian Democracy, said: “This event aims to bring together British Indians of all ages to celebrate our deep-rooted connections to India and the great tapestry of Indian music, art and culture. Like our societies, our culture is incredibly diverse. 

It’s this diversity that has produced the wonderful artists performing at our cultural ball and it is something we should celebrate! Both in art and politics. 

We hope people will leave the event with a sense of pride in our history of culture that had been passed down through generations and remind us of our strong connections with our ancestral roots”.
