Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed and Mahira Khan to be seen together onscreen in Netflix’s first Pakistan-themed original

Netflix has announced its first Pakistan-themed original – ‘Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo’.
The series is set to feature some of the country’s biggest stars including Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Sanam Saeed. They will be joined by ‘Resident Evil’ star Ahad Raza Mir who will also play the lead role.
The show is an interpretation of Farhat Ishtiaq’s widely successful 2013 novel written in Urdu, bearing the same title. The narrative centers around Sikandar, a student of law at Harvard, who becomes emotionally distant following a traumatic event. While in Italy, Sikandar crosses paths with Liza, an artist burdened by a complex history.
A number of Pakistani stars will be seen in supporting roles. They are Hamza Ali Abbasi, who plays the main antagonist in ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’; Bilal Ashraf (Superstar), Maya Ali (Parey Hut Love), Iqra Aziz (Raqeeb Se), Hania Aamir (Parde Mein Rehne Do), Khushaal Khan (Muhabbat Gumshuda Meri), Nadia Jamil (Jo Bichar Gaye), Omair Rana (Pinjra) and Samina Ahmed (Ms. Marvel). According to reports, filming has already begun and is taking place in Italy, the UK and Pakistan. The official release date announcement is has not been made yet.
Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed shared the screen in the immensely popular and cherished Pakistani drama ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’. The duo is set to reunite once again in an upcoming series titled ‘Barzakh’. Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan showcased their acting prowess in the daily soap opera ‘Humsafar’. Additionally, they both starred in ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’, which is acclaimed as the top-grossing Pakistani movie ever.
According to Variety, Dubai-based Momina Duraid Films FZ – LLC is producing the series, with Momina Duraid — whose credits include ‘Bin Roye’, ‘Chand Tara’ and ‘Fairytale’ — serving as showrunner. It added that the commission is by the team at Netflix Middle East and North Africa.
