A murder investigation was launched after a girl’s body was discovered in Woking on the morning of 10 August.

Officers were called to an address in Hammond Road around 2.50am following a concern for safety where the victim, 10-year-old Sara Sharif was found lifeless.

According to reports, three of the suspects have already fled the country after they booked a one-way flight ticket to Pakistan before Sharif’s body was discovered. It was later revealed that all the three suspects were known to the young girl.

The police are yet to name the suspects as of Friday, 18 August.

A police spokesman commented: “Inquiries are ongoing to locate three identified people we would like to speak to in connection with our investigation into the death of a 10-year-old girl in Woking.

“Detectives have confirmed that no other people were present at the address when they attended in the early hours of Thursday morning.

“The three people they would like to speak to were known to the victim.”

When interrogated, a travel agent said he was contacted by an individual who wanted tickets to Pakistan for three adults and five children.

Sharif’s devastated mother, Olga Sharif, did not have custody of her daughter and learnt about her death after a police officer called her.

She said: “I was on my way to Poland when they called to say, ‘You need to come to England and come to the police station in Dover’.

“She told me she could not say why over the phone, but when I called again they told me to pull over, so we did.

“Then she told me Sara had been found dead in a house and I just burst into tears. It took us six hours to get back to the UK.”

She added: “I couldn’t see my daughter for four years, and now she is dead. She’s only a kid. She had done nothing wrong.”

It was reported that the girl was staying with her father, Urfan Sharif, who was given full custody of her and her 13-year-old brother after their marriage ended. Olga revealed how she had noticed changes in her daughter’s behaviour after moving in with him.

She said: “My life will never be the same again. Sara should be with me right now. She was too young. Sara was an amazing child.”

Several neighbours came forward to pay their tributes to a young and innocent life gone too soon. Many left flowers outside the house where she was found.

On Friday, 18 August, Surrey Police provided an update in statement that read: “Detectives have confirmed that no other people were present at the address when they attended in the early hours of Thursday morning (10 August). The three people they would like to speak to were known to the victim.

“Formal identification is yet to take place but we understand the child has been named locally.

“No arrests have been made at this time.

“A post-mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow afternoon (15 August).

“Officers remain at the address whilst the investigation continues and further updates will be provided in due course.”

At present there is no extradition agreement between the UK and Pakistan, which means that if a person who has committed a crime in the UK, has fled to Pakistan, then sending them back is at the discretion of the authorities in Islamabad.
