Pakistan’s viral blue-eyed chaiwala opens a new café in London

A Pakistani chaiwala (tea-seller), who became an overnight sensation after his picture went viral on social media, has opened a café in London.
In 2016, Arshad Khan became the talk of the town after he was clicked making and selling chai in a roadside stall in Islamabad.
His striking blue eyes got attention from millions, with women discussing how good looking he is.
Without a doubt, the sudden fame has propelled his career forward to becoming a businessman. He recently opened Cafe Chaiwala Arshad Khan, at Ilford Lane in London.
The new establishment celebrates the customs and heritage of Khan’s native background, showcasing vibrant truck art and desi-inspired wall paintings.
The ambiance of the café combines modern elements with a touch of traditional stall-like atmosphere.
As for the tea selection, the cafe offers a range of options, including the renowned karak chai, gurr (jaggery) chai, honey malai chai, and Kashmiri chai.
When it comes to food, the café specialises in Pakistani street food, with their freshly made parathas generously filled with chicken tikka and malai boti.
Additionally, customers can expect an extensive menu of delectable Asian snacks such as samosa chaat, papri chaat, roll paratha, omelettes, halwa, and much more.
Speaking about the cafe, Arshad said, “My visit is being planned and I would love to brew tea for my loving fans. I have received thousands of requests for a London visit.
“Our first international chai shop is now open on Ilford Lane and the response is massive already.
“With the Durrani brothers, we decided to start from Ilford Lane due to the fact that it’s home to a large number of Pakistanis and Indians who love chai.
“I will be in London soon in person.”
The brand has been brought exclusively to London by three Asian brothers – Bahadar Durrani, Nadir Durrani and Akbar Durrani – who plan on opening more franchises across the UK, Europe, North America, Asia, Australia and the Middle East.
Akbar Durrani shared that they acquired the international rights to the cafe in 2021, but there was a delay as the brothers were searching for an ideal location that perfectly aligned with the brand’s image.
After careful evaluation, they ultimately chose Ilford Lane as the ideal spot, given its significant Asian community presence in London.
Hailing from a traditional Pashtun family in Mardan, Khan gained popularity as the ‘Chaiwala,’ a moniker that eventually became his brand name.
Using his newfound fame to his advantage, he has embarked on an entrepreneurial journey to create a better life for his family.
