A former West Midlands police officer has admitted that he groomed, abducted and sexually assaulted a minor while he was serving as a PC.

Haider Siddique, met the 13-year-old victim online, after which he groomed her for sexual purposes while making claims that he was offering support, according to the police force.

In March last year, the 22-year-old man, who was on a long-term sick leave, was caught when a bus driver saw him acting inappropriately towards the teenager.

Siddique then resigned from his position while in custody. He appeared at the Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday, where he admitted to having committed the offences and was charged for encouraging a child to perform a sex act.

After he pleaded guilty, he was remanded and is due to be sentenced on 3 March. Siddique’s heinous acts were described as “sickening” with the West Midlands Police adding that they conducted a “robust and meticulous investigation.”

Deputy Chief Constable Vanessa Jardine said, “Siddique’s crimes will have significantly impacted upon his victim, and I know his fellow officers will be repulsed by his behavior.

“We are committed to rooting out any member of staff who engages in criminality whenever we find evidence of it.”

It has been reported that Siddique joined the police force in August 2021, but was on a leave since November that year. However, the police have not yet revealed the reason behind this. He is also set to face a former officer misconduct hearing at a later date, according to reports.
