The Southampton Sikh Toy Appeal is going to make this year’s Christmas special for numerous children with hundreds of toys.
Families, who cannot provide their children with gifts can get them from toy appeal volunteers at the Gurdwara Khalsa Darbar, Southampton’s Sikh Resource Centre in Burgess Road.
In the last few weeks, these toys were collected at the Specsavers Chandlers Ford and Eastleigh stores, which were serving as drop-off points, with the help of Minal Thaker, a director at the stores.
Thaker is a part of the local toy appeal committee and worked tirelessly to help raise funds and awareness about the charity. She helped encourage community members be a part of something special this festive season and provide children from deprived backgrounds or those in hospitals with a present.
She said, “Many of us are looking forward to Christmas, but there are some families who will have nothing. We’re trying to ensure that as many as possible receive something for their children.”
If you are in need of gifts for the children in your family this Christman, email the Toy Appeal at southampton@thetoyappeal.org and register to receive them.
