Bollywood actor Ali Fazal is set to make a comeback in the Hollywood film industry after bagging a role in the upcoming project titled Afghan Dreamers. The actor has admitted that he is excited to be a part of such an “exciting story”, PTI reports.
The film will be directed by two-time Oscar-winning director Bill Guttentag who won the prestigious award for his short films “You Don’t Have to Die” and “Twin Towers”.
Produced by Guttentag, Laura Overdeck, and Samudrika Arora, Afghan Dreamers is based on a true story about Afghan tech entrepreneur Roya Mahboob, who started a program in 2017 to help young and capable women develop the knowledge and skills in the field of science and technology, shattering the limitations of a patriarchal society.
Fazal, who has previously starred in several British and American films including “Furious 7”, “Victoria and Abdul”, “Death on the Nile”, and the upcoming “Kandahar”, said that he was looking forward to working with Guttentag.
“Excited and humbled to be sharing notes and being directed by Bill who has an impeccable body of work. ‘Afghan Dreamers’ is a very important story to be told and I’m happy to be part of its cinematic retelling,” the actor said in a media statement.
Canadian actor Nikohl Boosheri will be starring alongside Fazal, playing the role of Roya Mahboob. She is best known for her role in the series The Bold Type.
According to reports, the details of Fazal’s roles have not been revealed yet but the shooting has already commenced in Morocco.
The crew is on a 50 days schedule with most of the film being shot in Morocco and Budapest, Hungary.
